Where do you come from, my lovely? Where do you go? Where shall we go?

Can't help it, really. If you're a traveller with any aspirations to pretention then you have to go to India. It's not even a choice. Filthy, inspiring, magical, frustrating; India's got it all. It's also damn cheap, and has a climate that's best when western climates are worst. Get over there, learn the lingo (English), and lose all your money to scammers. It's the backpacking way.
Not recommended for a first trip away, though, because of the madness. Really. I mean it.
Lovely beaches, beautiful people. Slightly more expensive travelling than India, though. But it does have coral reefs and the best food in the western troposphere, so it's well worth a mosey. Try not to get dengue fever, though, because that's just plain annoying. All in all, one of the better backpacking destinations.
If you go travelling there, you'll move there. Simple as that, really (cheap houses, too).
Fantastic country to visit, and highly recommended for first-time travellers. You will get drunk, and you will get laid. People who have already visited Asia tend to find Australia a bit staid a destination by comparison, but they are the fools. If you've never been backpacking before, start here. Get a year's working visa (borrow some money into your account to get past the visa application process), develop a love for washing dishes and picking fruit, and get your sorry donkey over there. Aw, shit yeah.
Bit of trouble around this area, in that there's a few guns and banditos around the place. Also a lot of jocks from the US of A, who are into a different kind of scene to most backpacking destinations. Also a lot of peace workers, for some reason, who should be applauded but instead are avoided, because of the boredom. Sorry, guys, but you're boring. Really, really boring.
Guatemala's nice, and well worth a visit. Only one beach, and that's black sand, but until you've watched the sun set over an inky beach you've never really seen the sun set (and until you've walked over black sand in the midday sun you've never really jumped about screaming about the pain in your feet).
